How do you knit a bunny ear hat?
To knit a bunny ear hat, you’ll start by creating the main body of the hat using your Sentro knitting machine. Once the hat is complete, you’ll knit two elongated tubes to serve as the bunny ears. These tubes are then sewn onto the top of the hat, giving it that distinctive bunny look.

Can you knit a bunny beanie using a Sentro knitting machine?
Absolutely! The Sentro knitting machine is versatile and perfect for knitting hats, including the bunny ears hat. Its user-friendly design makes the knitting process swift and efficient.

What size yarn is best for a Bunny Ears Hat Sentro Knitting Machine Pattern?
The Sentro knitting machine 48 works best with worsted weight size 4 yarn. This size ensures smooth operation and produces a hat that’s both warm and comfortable. For small kids and babies use the Sentro 40 instead!
Can I use two different colors for the hat and ears?
Yes, using contrasting colors for the hat and ears can add a playful touch to your bunny ears hat, making it even more unique. In this hat I’ll be using pink and white to make half of the hat on each color.

Step-by-Step Guide to Knitting the Bunny Ears Hat
Knitting the Hat Body
Begin by setting up your Sentro 48 knitting machine. Cast on to work on tube mode and knit in the round until the hat has (45 – 60) rows Kids/ Adult sizes. Cast off with a tapestry needle and a contrasting color of yarn. Once you have both sides, fold each in half and seam the side on waste yarn with Graft stitch. Repeat for both pieces. Put them side by side and mattress stitch both sides to form a tube. This forms the main body of the hat.

Creating the Bunny Ears
For the ears, you’ll knit two tubes. Cast on like you would for a beanie, but cast off with a tapestry needle and another color of yarn. Each tube should have the desired length of the years you want to make. I suggest (60 – 90) rows. Once knitted, cinch one side, using mattress stitch to shape the bottom edge. On the other side, bind off the stitches with a crochet hook and slip stitch. Fold the ear in half and close the top making SC on both stitches on each side.
After this make rows:
Row 1: CH1 and then SC 2 together across to decrease stitches
Row 2: CH1 SC in each SC
Row 3: repeat row 1, you should now have around 6 st.
Leave a long tail to seam it to the hat!

Attaching the Ears
Position the ears on top of the Bunny Ears Hat Sentro Knitting Machine Pattern, ensuring they’re evenly spaced and place markers. Use your tapestry needle and yarn to securely sew the ears onto the hat using the graft stitch.
Finishing Touches
After attaching the ears, weave in any loose yarn ends. Consider adding bow ties or other embellishments to personalize your hat further.
Tips for Success
- Yarn Selection: Opt for soft, worsted weight or double knit yarn for a comfortable fit.
- Machine Maintenance: Regularly clean and maintain your Sentro knitting machine to ensure smooth operation.
