My Experience with Sentro Knitting Machines
I started my journey with a Sentro knitting machine. As a beginner, I was drawn to the Sentro because of its affordability and simplicity. Setting up the machine was straightforward after watching a few YouTube videos, and I was able to start my first project—a cozy beanie—within a few hours using the yarn that came in the Sentro Box. The Sentro CKM is available in different sizes that serve different purposes, you can read here what each one is best for, allowing me to experiment with various projects, from small accessories to larger garments.
My first Sentro was a 48 needles and after 3 years of use, it´s still going really well.
Sentro vs Addi Knitting Machines: A Comprehensive Comparison
When it comes to circular knitting machines, Sentro and Addi are two of the most favoured brands among knitting enthusiasts. This article will provide a comparison of these brands to assist you in determining which one best suits your knitting needs.
Overview of Sentro Knitting Machines
Sentro knitting machines are known for their affordability and ease of use, making them a great option for beginners. These machines come in various sizes, allowing you to create a wide range of knitting projects, from hats and scarves to larger items like sweaters.
I now own both the Sentro 48 and Sentro 40 knitting machines. The Sentro 48 is excellent for creating larger hats and garments, while the Sentro 40 is perfect for baby and toddler beanies. I purchased the Sentro 40 because it makes sleeves and leg warmers in just the right size.

Pros:
- Budget-Friendly: Sentro machines are generally more affordable compared to other brands.
- User-Friendly: Easy to set up and use, ideal for beginners.
- Versatile: Available in different sizes (22 – 32 – 40 – 48) for various projects.
Cons:
- Durability: Some users report that Sentro machines may not be as durable as higher-end models.
- Low-quality plastic: I had to change the row counter and the handle after the second year.
Overview of Addi Knitting Machines
Addi knitting machines are renowned for their high quality and durability. These machines are designed for serious knitters who want a reliable tool that can handle extensive use. Addi machines are known for their smooth operation and ability to create even stitches.
I purchased the Addi King only one year ago and I have to say I love it, it handles a wider variety of yarns and I still didn´t have to open it to clean or change any parts, also it comes with stoppers for the panel mode and extra needles, in case you brake one.

Pros:
- High Quality: Built with durable materials for long-lasting use.
- Smooth Operation: Provides a consistent knitting experience with even stitches.
- Yarn types: Generally Addi knitting machines can handle more types of yarn.
- Row counter: It can count rows using panel mode
Cons:
- Cost: Addi machines are generally more expensive than Sentro machines.
- Only 46 needles: It makes smaller tubes than a Sentro 48 so depending on the yarn the beanies will be tight for adult sizes.
Key Differences Between Sentro and Addi
- Price: Sentro machines are more budget-friendly, making them accessible to a wider audience. Addi machines, while more expensive, offer superior quality and features.
- Build Quality: Addi machines are built to last with high-quality materials, whereas Sentro machines may require more careful handling. Also you have to be aware that you will be buying parts like row counter, handle and yarn guide after the first year, making this machine a little more expensive after a few years of usage.

Addi machines provide a smoother, more professional knitting experience and will last longer without the need for constantly changing parts. Sentro knitting machine will need parts changing constantly.
Which CKM Should You Choose?
Choosing between a Sentro and an Addi knitting machine depends on your needs and budget. If you are a beginner or looking for an affordable option, the Sentro machine is a great choice.
However, if you are an experienced knitter or plan to use the machine frequently, investing in an Addi machine may be worth the extra cost for its durability. Also, Sentro knitting machines need constant service and cleaning for the gears and parts to work smoothly, I still didn´t have to open my Addi King after 2 years and I know from people´s comments that some still didn´t serve their Addi CKM after 7 years or so.
Sentro vs Addi Circular Knitting Machines Conclusion
Both Sentro and Addi knitting machines have their own advantages and drawbacks. By understanding your own knitting needs and preferences, you can make an informed decision that will help you create beautiful knitted items with ease. Whether you choose Sentro for its affordability or Addi for its quality, both brands offer reliable options for knitting enthusiasts if used with great care and patience.
