After using my Sentro 48 for over a year, I realized it was already time for some Sentro Knitting Machine spare parts. The plastic parts tend to wear down pretty quickly from the gears constantly turning and the needles working under pressure from the yarn.
If you’re using worsted yarn, it can speed up that wear and tear—especially if you’re not careful with yarn tension. Trust me, keeping the tension just right by using the proper spot on the tension holder can make a huge difference in how long your machine lasts!
Best Places to buy Sentro Knitting Machine spare parts
Are Sentro knitting machines any good?
In my opinion they are great if you take care of your knitting machine. I really enjoy using my Sentro and Addi knitting machine to make parts of sweaters and tops and also quick beanies and I think that even cracking it manually its much faster than making it by hand. They are much more portable, which in my case it makes a lot of difference because I travel a lot and my space at home right now is very limited. Normal Flat bed knitting machines are heavy and need a lot of space. With my Sentro 40 and 48 knitting machines I can make a large variety of garments, as you can see here in my patterns page link.
What are the parts of a Sentro knitting machine?
Sentro knitting machine parts list and places where you can purchase it and places where I have purchased sentro knitting machine spare parts before!
Sentro knitting machine gears
Gears replacement for a Sentro knitting machine
There are 4 sizes of Sentro knitting machines, 22 needles, 32 needles, 40 needles and 48 needles, so when you look for spare gears consider buying the right sizes because they ar completely different and one size will not fit in the other.
These are the shops where I bought spare parts and the delivery was really fast and good quality.
Not all places have the same quality of replacement parts.
To install the gears you will need to completely open your machine apart.
Sentro knitting machine plastic Gears
I purchased my gear from the Aliexpress Shop in the link below, the delivery from China to Australia took only 10 days.
A few months later I also purchased a new Sentro 40 pins from this same shop and had it delivered to Brazil in only 14 days.
“Despite off a little more expensive I tried other shops on AliExpress that never delivered, so I prefer to pay a little more and have a quality part and fast delivery! Also if you have too many parts in your machine with problems, I would consider buying a new machine and using the old one for spare parts, since all these gears bought separately can be more expensive than the circular knitting machine itself”.
Sentro knitting machine white plastic case
I didn’t need to replace these parts yet, but some of the screw placements on the top white case are broken and I’ll need it very soon
Handle sentro knitting machine
Handle replacement for a Sentro knitting machine
To install this handle you will need to completely open your machine apart. I have a video on how to open your knitting machine I’m sharing at the end of this post!
Yarn guide sentro knitting machine
Yarn Guide replacement for a Sentro knitting machine
To install this yarn guide you will also need to completely open your machine apart.
Feet and Tension guide replacement
Feet and Tension guide replacement for a Sentro knitting machine
To install the tension piece is just remove the old one and replace it! To install the feet unscrew the old ones and replace with new ones.
You can easily find these parts in many online shops, but the quality might vary, I recommend these 2 shops linked here
Needles for sentro knitting machine
Needles replacement for a Sentro knitting machine
To install the needles in any size knitting machine you will need to completely open your machine apart.
Be aware that the needles for different sizes of Sentro knitting machines and other brands are not the same, I have the Sentro 48 pin and the Sentro 40 pin and the second has smaller needles, so make sure you purchase the right size. Many sellers don’t specify the size, so contact them to see if is the right one.
Counter for sentro knitting machine
Counter replacement for a Sentro knitting machine
To install the row counter any size knitting machine you will need to completely open your machine apart.
“My row counter broke when I had my machine for about 1 year, I tried to fix it but with no luck. I purchase a new one together with extra needles and the instalation was quite easy”
Electric Parts you can attach to your knitting machine to make tubes faster
How to attach a Power Adapter to my knitting machine handle?
If you want to make beanies only and use the tube mode of your sentro knitting machine, you have the option to attach a Drill bit to your machine handle and work with a drill. For the panel mode, I advise to work only manually in order to get the edges right.
Power Adapter for the handle
The installation is quite simple, it’s only place the drill adaptor on top of the handle! Make sure you use a low speed since the gears of your knitting machine can overheat and melt.
How to attach an Aidiler Adapter to my knitting machine?
Aidiler Adapter for the Sentro 40 knitting machine!
Be aware to choose the right size, there are adpters for Sentro 48 as well.
This is a good review I found that you should be aware of before purchasing the AIDILER Knitting Machines Adapter or Electric Knitting Machines Adapter:
“For those who are buying this electric drive motor for the Sentro knitting machine, be forewarned that you MUST take the knitting machine apart to get the knob handle out.
This unit is NOT like the Addi design. Watch videos of how to take this machine apart and put it back together to install the electric turner correctly.
I am experienced with Addi’s, and this Sentro knitting unit caught me off guard, as I had to take the knitting machine apart to install the electric drive motor.”
Electric Row counter for Circular knitting machines
Electric Row counter for the Sentro 40 and 48 knitting machine!
This is a good review I found that you should be aware of before purchasing the Row counter for your Knitting Machines :
The title says it all. One tip: the counter comes with super glue and the directions warn that super glue is permanent and for a less permanent install you can use hot glue. I found that you can use Blu tack for an easily moveable option. Buy one and install it on all your machines with blu tack.
I was skeptical due to the reviews, but it works great. Don’t love the purple color but it was easy to install and counts accurately. The only con is you’re not able to turn it off while in tube mode, which depletes the battery.
Electric Row and Handle kit for Sentro machines
Electric Row counter for the Sentro 40 and 48 knitting machine plus Row counter!
This is a good review I found that you should be aware of before purchasing the Row counter for your Knitting Machines :
I had to completely take my Sentro apart but it was worth. I make sure that it is on a flat surface, using silicon ear plug or wax (to reduce static), with medium 4 acrylic yarn.
I have arthritis so I have been using a drill to crank my machines. When I saw this motor I thought this would be a better method. Unfortunately this has caused nothing but problems for me. I can’t control the speed smoothly so I have been having a lot more dropped stitches and splitting yarn. I’m still within the return period, but since the counter (which works great) is glued to my machine I can’t return it without damaging my machine. Lesson learned, when something is working, stick with it!
How to clean and lubricate the parts of a circular knitting machine
Most of the time simply cleaning the machine can help, I had to open mine after 4 months of usage because it was noisy and the gears wouldn’t move like when the circular knitting machine was new.
In this tutorial, I show you how to clean the gears and the best product to use for that, I opened my Sentro 48 knitting machine for cleaning around 6 times in 2.5 years that I have it and still works great. Here is the cleaning tutorial link
Lubricating the circular knitting machine gears as often as they get noisy and the handle movement is hard. I normally use White lithium Grease and of all the lubricants available for me it was the one that lasted longer. I tried machine oil, WD40 spray and Silicon spray and none of them seemed to last very long, in a matter of 2 weeks I had to reopen my machine again.
